HELLO LOVIES
I hope everyone is doing well and not going too stir crazy in isolation. It is hard. Now...I love my parents do not get me wrong, but we have had more squabbles than ever. I kid you not today my Mom and I fought about how I took the last avocado...lol...I am getting on a tangent.
Ok...the "c" word
With all of this time on my hands and only so many episodes of "Gossip Girl," I have thought a bunch about where I want to college. Now I know what you are thinking, "Parrish, you are a sophomore." I know...but...it is never too early to start planning for the future. I thought it would be fun if I shared with you a few ideas of how to decide where you want to go.
-determine how far away from home you are willing to travel (does distance matter, do you want to be able to come home for a weekend without it being a major hassle, or do you want to pay for a plane ride every time you want to go home?)
-research the top majors for each school that catches your eye (does this school have a good program for what I want to do or will there be flexibility if I change my mind?)
-determine if a big social life is important in your college experience (do I want to go to a school with football and D1 sports, is greek life important, and would I rather be in a college town or a bigger city?)
-what region/type do you want to go (sec, acc, pac-12, ivy, community, etc.)(do I want to go up north or down south?)(Do I want to be somewhere that is really hot or cold, or are seasons important to me?)
-determine how much money you are willing to spend (is it worth it to have student debt, which school is offering me the best scholarship, or is in state tuition worth having?)
-determine what colors/mascots you like (I know...I know this seems really shallow, but when you think about it you will be wearing these colors and merch for 4+ years and probably the rest of your life...so choose wisely)
-determine if want to go to a school where you are a legacy (Do I want to go here because many members of many family went here, or do I want to break the mold and make my own path?)
Ok so I hope this helped at least one person. I know all of it can seem really stressful, but I encourage you to take it at strides and keep an open mind. I want to end today with this verse from Jeremiah.
"For I know the plans for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future"
Jeremiah 29:11
Please remind yourself that wherever you end will be exactly where you need to be, and his plans for us are greater than any plans we could ever have for ourself.
as always,
xoxo,
ginger on a mission
